Maybe that's why this sport's more popular with women.
I'm Lance and this channel is for my favorite sport - eventing. I'll film upper level eventing in USEA Area II when I have time, as well as show jumpers, horse races, dressage and reining, and one of these days cutting and combined driving. I subscribe to the Dogma 95 school of movie making - lol.

2017 Fair Hill Internationl CCI***: Day 2 Cross Country
My 10th excellent trip to Fair Hill! Selena O'Hanlon from Canada took first place with Foxwood High, Will Coleman and Tight Lines drew second while Boyd Martin and a horse with an unpronounceable name rode into third.

Now with new found footage! We eventers in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia have a convenient and beautiful schooling facility thanks to the efforts of eventing enthusiast Mr Sandy Johnson. Alas it's up for sale, and I hope the next owners share Mr Johnson's vision.

Best weather at Fairhill in 10 years. WE HAVE LEAF PIT! Morven Park HT 2016

I was so excited to see the return of the Leaf Pit and Coffin to Morven Park's CIC and Advanced Horse Trials after last year's cancellation due to terrible weather. Rain on the days leading up to today left the ground too soft for most, more than half scratched, indeed nobody finished the advanced class. I could do that Leaf Pit... with a ladder. Thanks to Joanne again for 2nd camera.

Cross country scenes from the 2016 Great Meadow International CICO Eventing Competition. All members of the US & Canadian 2016 Olympic Eventing squads were here for one last ride before heading to Brazil. Thanks to Joanne for being 2nd camera, at one point catching me in the background (if you look closely). And thanks to the organizers for media support and a great weekend - well done!

Tamra Smith looking fast and finishing in first place with Mai Baum after a double clear round on XC and a two second time fault in show jumping. Phillip Dutton took second with Mighty Nice and Kim Severson placed third on Cooley Cross Border. Seemed like more than usual amount of E's, R's and RF's this year with 37 of 60 riders finishing, despite what appeared to me to be excellent conditions....

Today I had time between grooming duties to capture most if not all of the Open Preliminary class (3'7") on cross country and a few from the Jr and Prelim Rider classes. Plenty of horses not liking the jump into water. The pair at 11:35 is Flinders Chase and Sunny Greene - sorry about that. I have no idea who the rider is at 7:42, definitely not Jan Byyny.

More XC thrills from this 2nd big event at Great Meadow in Virginia. Correction, it's Pan-Am Games, not Panama Games - lol. Sorry I missed most of Lauren Kieffer's ride through the pond while watching another rider struggle at the big table, fence 4. Camera: Lumix GH3 at 1080/60P, 14-140 mm lens.
2015 Loudoun Hunt Pony Club Horse Trials: Intermediate XC

No trip to Rolex this year but I was able to catch the small intermediate class at the well organized LHPC Horse Trials at Morven Park in between grooming duties and walking my course. I'm still surprised at the sunken road in Novice. So was my horse, lol. Camera: Lumix GH3 with 14-140 mm lens, which is focus-challenged on galloping horses.

Sorted out the upload problem. This is one unique aspect about eventing, juniors and (ahem) older riders, amateurs and professionals (spot the Olympian) and men and women all competing in the same division. The horse is the equalizer. Not able to get everyone due to volunteer duties, but able to walk the entire course at different times.

Today I was a scribe, but before that I had time to video a few SJ rounds and riders who completed the last obstacles on XC. I couldn't stray too far from USEA judge testing, so you can play 'who jumped it well' for this intermediate table-bending-line-chevron combination. Cheers! Once again riders getting ready for the biggie at Fairhill in two weeks. Occasional heavy breathing noises did not originate with the horses - lol. Juliet is probably going to ask about my fitness.

Wow! Excellent performances from all horses and riders. I love cross country. It’s the highlight of eventing for me and shows jus5 how much horses and riders need to work together. Such a great sport.
